Sally L. Phillips, President of the Hillsborough County LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus issued the following statement:

“Just weeks after the ‘so called’ Don’t Say Gay bill was passed, and on the same day as the LGBTQ+ employees of Disney held a walk out protesting the disappointing inaction by The Disney Corp, the Florida Democratic Party announced the 2022 Leadership Blue is being held on Disney property in the middle of Pride Month. We expect better from the FDP and as our Florida Caucus President Stephen Gaskill says – ‘FDP – READ THE ROOM!’ You have other options, so please consider them.

The Hillsborough County LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus stands with our Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus and will not be participating in the FDP’s 2022 Leadership Blue. We call on other county chapters throughout the state as well as Democratic officials, candidates, organizations, and activists throughout Hillsborough to do the same.”
