Statement Regarding Leadership Blue Change

Sally L. Phillips, President of the Hillsborough County LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus issued the following statement:

The Hillsborough County LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus echoes our Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus in thanking everyone within the Florida Democratic Party family who reached out in support of the LGBTQ+ community, showing a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. We would also like to thank Florida Caucus President Stephen Gaskill, the Caucus Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors for continuing to lead the charge toward full equality for all Florida citizens. As President Gaskill says, “this situation underscores that the many groups, organizations and individuals that make up the FDP can pull together when the cause is right.”

With Tampa Pride coming this weekend, we would like to remind everyone that not too many years ago, our ability to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride in Hillsborough County was denied to us. Again, “when the cause is right,” our LGBTQ+ community and Allies pull together and consequently, we will be celebrating the 7th year of Tampa Pride! Let’s celebrate together!

You will see us at Tampa Pride and marching proudly in the Diversity Parade. We invite each of you to join us! We also encourage you to please make sure you are registered to vote and make a plan to vote in the upcoming 2022 Primary and General Elections.”
